Bought a GE Cafe gas oven and refrigerator a few years ago. $6000.00++. Waited one year for the oven! Then 1 yr later the oven door switch stops working so light stays on and oven stops cooking. I contacted GE and the store I bought it from with no help. This went on for about six months off and on. Then stopped working all together.
Cafe” is supposed to be higher quality but literally the same oven as a profile. Obviously quality is not as they claim! I Contacted GE Canada angain and they put me in contact with an appliance repair company who came and assessed the issue and agreed it was the switch. At this time they did not comment on good will coverage but had not said no. The technician then charged my wife $135.54 for the assessment. He then told her the repair will take approx one to two hours plus the $30 part ($135 per hour!). The GE technician also commented that this should not happen this soon after purchase.
Within an hour or two of the technician leaving I received this email from GE Canada!
Good morning,
Our apologies, but as the unit is Out of warranty since april 2023, we cannot cover the repair costs

Not a satisfactory resolution in my opinion and I do not recommend a company that does not stand behind their product with any kind of good will on a repair this soon after buying new. I feel like I got the shaft regarding the repair. Now waiting for the part! Will it take another year? Who knows!
